About the Benevolent Fund of the ICE
The Benevolent Fund, which was founded back in 1864 by members of the Institution of Civil Engineers, (ICE) provides advice, support and financial assistance to those past and present members of the ICE (and their dependants) who have experienced difficulties including bereavement, ill-health or disability, unemployment, family break ups or problems in retirement. Since those early days the Benevolent Fund has changed and adapted to meet the changing needs of its beneficiaries, but its simple and straightforward aim remains the same today:
'......to help ICE members and their dependants who are in need'.
The Benevolent Fund is an independent charity (Registered Number 208229). It is governed by a Board of Trustees, called the Committee of Management, who are all members of the Institution of Civil Engineers. A small team of dedicated staff, in offices owned by the Fund on its estate at Haywards Heath, manage the administration of the Fund.
