CHANGES TO THE CONSTITUTION
OF YOUR BENEVOLENT FUND
On 1st January 2009, The ICE Benevolent Fund became a Charitable Company limited by guarantee. Donors to the Fund were asked to vote on this constitutional change over the summer of 2008 and Trustees were delighted to note that members voted overwhelmingly for this important move.
The new charitable company has a register of members who work alongside the Trustees and have an active involvement and interest in the Fund’s work. The Trustees are encouraging all those who donate to the Fund to seek membership.
To be a member, you need to have paid the annual subscription to the Fund (currently £5) in the year prior to joining. As a member you will be entitled to attend and vote at the AGM, apply to become a Trustee and will automatically receive information about the Fund and its operation. As a member, you will also become a guarantor and will be liable for a nominal £1 charge should the Fund be dissolved - but this is most unlikely!
Please consider applying to become a BFICE member. There is a simple application form to download, complete and return to the Fund’s office. Please also read the new company’s full memorandum and articles of association.
All potential members are encouraged to read the full copy of the new Incorporated company's Articles of Association and Memorandum of Association. Click here to view the Mem and Arts. Alternatively you can contact the Fund’s office on 01444 417979 where staff will be happy to send you a hard copy.
Members of ICE who have made a donation of £5 to the Fund in the preceding year, but have not completed a membership application form which has been accepted by the Trustees, will be classed as Friends of the Fund. Friends will be invited to attend the AGM, but will not be entitled to vote on any resolution.
